Title Blog:

Image
My Title font will be in Times New Roman, an example of Times New Roman would be the font I am using right now and throughout the rest of this blog. The contrast of my title will be a stained white, sort of like what came out of creed, like this:  The size will be moderate like how it is in Creed, and it's important for the audience to see what is in it, The titles words will enter the screen in a bold way and then slowly fade away into the next title. Each title will be on the screen for about 2-3 seconds, enough time to read it.

Title Research: King Richard

Image
What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? - The titles include logos, basic credits and obviously, the title. They are all styled in an authentic way that depicts the time they are in, and proves a realistic setting and a character focused mood. What images are prioritized and why? - The images prioritized are early morning trainings, simple tennis courts in the neighborhood, and other tennis related settings show the small and simple come up the two girls had, and how they used discipline to overcome their obstacles and become world class. How is the genre established from the outset? - The realistic tone depicts the sports genre setting without having to do too much, its simple enough to get the point across and the focus of training does the job just fine.

Title Research: Ford v Ferrari

Image
(I found my sequence on youtube) What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? - The opening includes period-style credits and branded logos, which emphasize the intense rivalry and the competition between the two brands, Ford and Ferrari. What images are prioritized and why? - The images prioritized are engines, race cars, and even some jumpcuts of the cars to show how immersive the racing world can be, it shows the need for speed and the risks you take while being a racer. How is the genre established from the outset? - Engine sounds and the jumpcuts set the tone right away that it's a racing movie, but the emotional effects and mental effects show why its a sports drama, not just any ordinary racing movie.

Title Research: Creed II

Image
(I found my sequence on YouTube)  What titles are displayed during the opening sequence? - The titles are being displayed with Bold text that shows the intense film that's coming up, and also shows the same print with studio logos and credits What images are prioritized and why? - The images prioritized are training images and overall boxing, which connects to the storyline and conflict How is the genre established from the outset? - The visuals, intensity, and mood all establish the setting of a true sports drama, and it doesn't take very long to notice it is a athletic based movie.

Sports Drama: King Richard

Image
What conventions of the genre does this movie have? - King Richard depicts a grueling training regime along with having to overcome obstacles constantly and learning how to keep pushing for the long term. The film is very discipline based and has key components of a good sports drama. What Conventions did I like? - I liked the focus on discipline and resilience, as an athlete it is important to be very disciplined because without discipline you will fall off, which is something I strive to have. I also like the resilience part because it teaches you to never stop no matter what and always keep pushing. What conventions did not appeal to me? - The main part that didn't appeal to me was how the movie could shift from the athlete at times, which is something I don't want to do. In my final task it will be 100% athlete centered.

Sports Drama: Ford v Ferrari

Image
What conventions of the genre does this movie have? - Ford v Ferrari dives into being a underdog which is really relatable to me as an athlete, along with a solid coach to athlete relationship which is very key in athletics. The film builds up with tension and really shows the importance of sticking to your craft and being able to have good teamwork. What Conventions did I like? - I enjoyed then underdog aspect because as an athlete who has been doubted a lot it is nice to see that I wasn't the only one and there are plenty of people in that situation and being able to see how they overcame it. I also have a really good Coach - Athlete relationship and it means a lot to me, so it's nice to see in the film. What conventions did not appeal to me? - The main thing that didn't appeal to me was the fact that it was a racing movie, and a lot of it was very slow paced and technical. I like quick action and faced pace style, which is something I'd be going for in my final task...

Sports Drama: Creed II

Image
What conventions of the genre does this movie have? - Creed II uses conventions like rivalries, training montages, and a dramatic final fight, the film also dives into emotional and mental problems like pressure and finding yourself. These are very common when it comes to sports dramas. What Conventions did I like? - To be honest, I enjoyed the training montages because as an athlete myself, I respect the grind. I also like how they dove into the mental aspect because a lot of times, mental health as an athlete flies over people's heads. And a classic rivalry always makes for a good movie What conventions did not appeal to me? - The main thing that didn't appeal to me was the predictable ending, as most creeds have. When doing my final task, I plan on making a more suspenseful feeling.

Genre Decision:

Image
The Genre I decided on was Sports Drama. I came to this conclusion because I feel that it is the most flexible genre to use. You can dabble in humor, and also not have to follow a realistic timeline; you can let your creativity flow. I've also watched Sports Drama's the most, and it appeals to me because I like the way they are made. I have some very good ideas I want to use, and I feel that they will best flow with a Sports Drama.

My Pitch:

Image
Option 1: Athletic Film The athletic film is about a young player and all the struggles he has to go through to make it to the top that nobody see’s. I would like to do this option because of its relatable nature. The thought process behind the film can flow easily because I know what it’s like. And not only that, I love sports. I could even write about my own experiences. In the grand scheme of things I believe this can turn out amazing. Option 2: Crime film The drama film is your typical crime piled film you see in the theaters. I would choose this pitch due to its relatable nature when it comes to films. Everyone loves their big drama films. When you go to the movies they sell out the quickest. It also isn’t too hard to come up with a good subject for the movie as there are a plethora of different options. The movie has the potential to come out really good. Choice: Option 1; Athletic Film

Today, I will be discussing my Final Task. On this project, I decided to work with my friend Lincoln Rodgers. I chose to work with Lincoln for a multitude of reasons. To begin with, I have known Lincoln for over a year, and during that time period, we have gotten very, very close. He and I have worked on other projects together and have been very successful on them, so I don't see how this one could be any different. We also have other classes together, meaning we can collaborate outside of Media Studies if we have any free time. I always feel as if Lincoln and I are on the same page when it comes to getting work done, and that can be very beneficial. I trust him a lot with his judgment when it comes to how we are going to get stuff done, and without trust in your group partner, you won't be able to go far. Lincoln can help benefit the project by using his amazing editing skills to take the Final Task we have filmed and make it into something special. He is very intelligent ...

All about me

Hello, my name is Andrew Cohen, I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and I am a sophomore currently enrolled in Fort Lauderdale High School! I love to play sports, video games, and travel. Now, let's begin! My main goal in life is to play Division 1 football in College, and then make it on to the NFL. My position in football is a kicker, and I would even like to be a coach someday. However, if that plan does not work out, I want to pursue Law, specifically sports agent Law, so I can still be involved in the sports realm. I am a part of the Pre-Law magnet here at Fort Lauderdale High School and participate in class mock trials, which I love to do. One of my favorite movies I ever watched was Paid in Full, which I watched over the summer. The movie included a lot of great and valuable lessons, and it was overall just a great watch. I have always been known to have a kind heart and to look out for others. I was always the friend who made sure everybody was included and having a...
