Refilm Blog: Making it better.

Image
This week, my friend decided to text me and ask me if I still needed to film my commercial. I texted him back and asked why. He offered to film it professionally with a really good camera. My friend does football videos and pictures for different high schools in the county. I texted him back, and we agreed on a time to set up this week. I then texted my partner and told him about the idea, and he agreed to refilm. I also wanted to refilm because my kicks could have been better in the last clip, pand I wanted to perfect them. This Monday, we went back to Holiday Park and restarted the process. When we got there, my cameraman took out his big camera with all the different types of filters and set it up for filming. When I started to do my bad kicks, we decided on a high angle. And when I was given the Nike ball, we decided to do low angles so you can really see the ball jump off my foot via the foot contact with the ball. We did a lot of retakes because I wanted my kicks to be as cr...

Editing Blog: Making things right.

Image
Once my partner and I finished recording, we went to edit the commercial. The first thing I looked for was whether it reached the time limit. Some of the clips, such as my kicking, were cut short so that we would still fit the time. The first part of the editing was done on my MacBook at home. I used to put all the clips into one file to make things easier. I noticed in that timeline that some of the other clips also went over the time limit. With that, I decided to take out some unnecessary things and tidy up the commercial. Other than the kicking scenes, I cut down scenes like the changing of the balls. I also cut down the scene where the people in the stands are cheering. After some of the main clips were edited, I transferred the clips to CapCut on my phone. With CapCut, I first started out by adding some special effects to my kicking, especially the makes. I also added subtitles in case people couldn't hear the dialogue. Music was also added in certain parts of the commercial...

Filming Blog: Holiday Park.

Image
On Sunday the 28th, I began filming with my partner. Both of us were there so the plan was able to go smooth. As the director, I was in charge of bringing all the equipment and footballs for the filming. I had my Wilson football used for bad kicks and the Nike one for good kicks. I made sure to tell my partner who was recording, all the specific angles and scenes once more so the film would be crisp. The park was a little busy at first so we had to wait on the bench for a field to clear up. Once a field opened up, we began the filming process, beginning with our first scene. I set up the Wilson football to kick and made sure I prepared to miss, and I took a few misses for the commercial. We are going to edit through and pick which one is the best. With the second scene we switched who was recording and I had my partner give me the Nike football to try to use. The first time we started filming the good kicks I wasn't in my flow state and kicking the way I wanted too. We had to refi...

Storyboard for Nike Football.

Image
First Scene:  In this scene, it will show me and Kenzo walking onto the football field at Holiday Park, and the camera will be locked onto the subject and tracking it. We will be setting up our equipment in this scene, and the footage will capture a story-building sense.  Second Scene:  In this scene, I will begin kicking with the Wilson football and missing the kicks. There will be a lot of jump cuts between the kicks, and the camera will be close up on the subject as I kick the ball. The camera will follow the ball and widen out as I miss.  Third Scene:  In this scene, Kenzo will come up to me and present to me a Nike Football and tell me how good it is to kick with, the camera will be a medium shot as Kenzo enters the footage and presents the ball to me.  Fourth Scene:  In this scene I will begin kicking with the new Nike ball, this will be similar to the second scene although it's a new ball and I will be making the kicks, the camera will be ...

Planning for My Commercial

Image
Planning blog Props:  Since Kenzo and I decided to produce a Nike Football Commercial, our main prop is a Nike football.  Other props will include a kicking tee and cleats.  Costumes: In our Video, I will be wearing athletic clothing simulating me playing in a game while Kenzo will be wearing a typical streetwear outfit as he portrays himself as a fan. I will be wearing Nike cleats as well while on the field, and maybe even some football accessories such as wristbands or a towel.  Schedule:  On 9/17/25, our group researched other videos of Nike Footballs for kicking.  On 9/17/25, our group established the pros, costumes, schedule, location list, and backup plan. On 9/19/25, our group will create the storyboard for our commercial. On 9/30/25, our group will tape the commercial video. On 8/2/25, our group will add the final editing to the commercial  Locations:  Our main location is the Football field. I (Andrew Cohen) will be on the field dem...

Andrew & Kenzo's pitch

Image
Pitch 1:Nike Footballs Two friends are at the park showing off their football skills. But after using a Nike Football to kick, they begin to make every kick. I would definitely like to film this pitch. I believe this could be a fun commercial that could make sports look good! I play football so I can be a good candidate to "show off" my skills for the camera. I can do all sorts of things with the ball so it will be good to do with the commercial. I think it can relate to a lot of athletes and bring something positive into play. It'll be a cool story to show off, especially with all the good editing. The way we will set everything up will have very positive results. No matter how old you are or what level of football you play this will be fun to watch.  Pitch 2: Under Armor Two friends are at the park getting ready to play some sports. One is wearing a under armor compression shirt and is doing amazing, while the other is wearing a basic t-shirt and playing bad. I woul...

Andrew's Group

Today, I will be discussing my commercial. On this project, I decided to work with my friend Kenzo Stewart. I chose to work with Kenzo for a multitude of reasons. To begin with, I have known Kenzo for over a year, and during that time period, we have gotten very, very close. He and I have worked on other projects together and have been very successful on them, so I don't see how this one could be any different. We also have other classes together, meaning we can collaborate outside of Media Studies if we have any free time. I always feel as if Kenzo and I are on the same page when it comes to getting work done, and that can be very beneficial. I trust him a lot with his judgment when it comes to how we are going to get stuff done, and without trust in your group partner, you won't be able to go far. Kenzo can help benefit the project by using his amazing editing skills to take the commercial we have filmed and make it into something special. He is very intelligent when it comes...

All About Andrew

Image
Hello, my name is Andrew Cohen, I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and I am a sophomore currently enrolled in Fort Lauderdale High School! I love to play sports, video games, and travel. Now, let's begin!  My main goal in life is to play Division 1 football in College, and then make it on to the NFL. My position in football is a kicker, and I would even like to be a coach someday. However, if that plan does not work out, I want to pursue Law, specifically sports agent Law, so I can still be involved in the sports realm. I am a part of the Pre-Law magnet here at Fort Lauderdale High School and participate in class mock trials, which I love to do. One of my favorite movies I ever watched was Paid in Full, which I watched over the summer. The movie included a lot of great and valuable lessons, and it was overall just a great watch. I have always been known to have a kind heart and to look out for others. I was always the friend who made sure everybody was included and having a ...
