Production Blog #5: Re-Editing

Image
Once my partner and I finished the new recording, we went to edit the Music Video. The first thing I looked for was whether it reached the time limit. Once again, some extra routes were cut short to fit in time. The first part of my editing was also done on my iPad. I used to put all the clips into one file to make things easier. I also noticed that some of the other clips were too long and had to be cut short. So I decided to take some things out. I cut out specific scenes that wasted clock time or just didn't make sense to be in the video. Such as some extra pan-outs. Once that was done, I transferred the clips to CapCut on my phone. When using CapCut it allowed me to add cool special effects to my Music Video. I added things like subtitles for the people who would want to read the lyrics. I also increased the volume of the song. After adding all of these, I really saw the Music Video coming together. However, I wasn't done; I still had a lot more to do. I went to re-edit t...

Production Blog #4, Refilming:

Image
This week, my friend decided to text me and ask me if I still needed to film my Music Video. I texted him back and asked why. He offered to film it professionally with a really good camera. My friend does football videos and pictures for different high schools in the county. I texted him back, and we agreed on a time to set up this week. I then texted my partner and told him about the idea, and he agreed to refilm. I also wanted to refilm because I thought a music video would look so much better if it were done professionally, like an artist would. This Monday, we went back to Holiday Park and restarted the process. When we got there, my cameraman took out his big camera with all the different types of filters and set it up for filming. Everything looked so much smoother. He was really good at what he did. We did a lot of retakes because I wanted everything to be as crisp as possible now that we had a professional cameraman on board. He did a very good job, and it also made it a ...

Production Blog #3: Editing

Once my partner and I finished recording, we went to edit the Music Video. The first thing I looked for was whether it reached the time limit. Some of the clips, like the throwing videos or routes, were cut short so that we would still fit the time. The first part of the editing was done on my iPad at home. I used to put all the clips into one file to make things easier. I noticed in that timeline that some of the other clips also went over the time limit. With that, I decided to take out some unnecessary things and tidy up the Music Video. Other than the throwing scenes, I cut down scenes like the warmups. I also cut down the scene where the walking started. After some of the main clips were edited, I transferred the clips to CapCut on my phone. With CapCut, I first started out by adding some special effects to throws, especially the cool routes. I also added subtitles for the music. The effects were very cool as well. After adding all of these, I really saw the music video coming tog...

Production Blog #2: Filming

Image
On November 18th, I began filming the music video with my partner. The song was Perfect timing, and we were both ready to work. Everything started off smoothly. Since I was the director, I had to make sure I had all the equipment and props we were going to use. I made sure I had the footballs, my cleats, and my backpack. Before we began, we both went over all the angels and motions so our video would be clean. The park we chose was crowded on the field, so we waited on a bench until it was open. Once the field was open, we began filming the first scene instantly. We started up the song and had me walking through the parking lot and preparing to "train." We recorded multiple takes so we could decide which was the best later on. For the next scene, I began warming up and throwing routes with my partner. We tried a different approach with some cuts, and it seemed to work. At first, we were having trouble filming it. But we kept trying and I practiced what to do and we got it do...

Production Blog #1: Preparing

Image
When preparing to film our music video, I found it to be very stressful, something I didn't expect. My groupmate and I were hoping to get everything done in a timely fashion, but that turned out to not be the case. We were going to shoot in early November, but we couldn't. Constant storms and weather problems piled on delays. Florida weather is always changing, and it never wants to match up with a day we want. The park we wanted to film at is a dirt field, and it becomes very muddy after a little rain. That's not safe for running or playing football. It also isn't safe for our equipment, as it can be destroyed. Trying to prepare our CAMS was also hard when we didn't know where or when we were going to film. I also had trouble finding a time that matched my own responsibilities. My school days take up the morning and most afternoons. And when I get home, I have a lot of homework I need to do. Thursdays and Fridays I work part-time time which takes away those days. ...

Music Video Storyboard

Image
Scene 1 This scene will open the music video with an establishing shot of the entrance to the park and football field at the filming location, Holiday Park. This scene will establish the setting of the video. Scene 2 This following scene will pan from the first area to the parking lot and will show the characters car parking at the field with the use of wide shot. Scene 3 The third scene will show the characters exiting the car and entering the football field and park. This scene will show how "locked in" they are. This will be synced with when the beat drops and when they make it onto the field. We will use a medium long shot in this scene to frame the characters from the knees up. Scene 4 This scene will be a two shot of the characters on the bench showing them gearing up. The camera will then pan to one of the players writing on a piece of paper the lyrics of "Perfect Timing". Scene 5  The fifth scene will be an over the shoulder shot of the characters getting ...

Also we will be wearing normal tennis shoes. The group members will be throwing around a football. We will also have the actors wear articles of clothing and accessories specific to the musical artist Shedeur Sanders. Also we might have them wearing an arm sleeve or other accessories that add color to the music video. Schedule: On 11/1/25, our group will finish the research of the musical artist and song.
