Production Blog #2: Filming
On November 18th, I began filming the music video with my partner. The song was Perfect timing, and we were both ready to work. Everything started off smoothly. Since I was the director, I had to make sure I had all the equipment and props we were going to use. I made sure I had the footballs, my cleats, and my backpack. Before we began, we both went over all the angels and motions so our video would be clean. The park we chose was crowded on the field, so we waited on a bench until it was open. Once the field was open, we began filming the first scene instantly. We started up the song and had me walking through the parking lot and preparing to "train." We recorded multiple takes so we could decide which was the best later on. For the next scene, I began warming up and throwing routes with my partner. We tried a different approach with some cuts, and it seemed to work. At first, we were having trouble filming it. But we kept trying and I practiced what to do and we got it down. The shots were much cleaner and they looked crisp. That was the main trouble we had throughout the process. I continued to direct my partner as to what we were doing. We didn't need to set up the camera anywhere because we used a lot of jumpcuts as we switched places. Overall the filming took around an hour. The next stop is the editing process. Thankfully filming went smoother than expected. I'm really happy for how it turned out and I'm greatful for my partner. This could not have been possible without him!
