Creative Critical Reflection
1.
How does your product use or challenge conventions, AND how does it represent social groups or issues:
My product which is a Nike Football uses the standard conventions you would see in a sports commercial. It highlights the meaning of excellence in the field and the bonding that comes from teamwork, which is a part of Nike's branding. It challenges the conventions by showing that with a Nike football, this sport can be for anyone, regardless of who you are. I used the ball to promote the diversity that the sport can bring and hoped to show that football can be played anywhere. I also believe that my video showcased that football isn't just for professionals. Even a teen like me can perform on the field, so this can encourage more young individuals to get out there and chase their dreams. As a whole, my product reflects the traditional values found in an athlete and the diversity and unity this amazing sport includes.
2. How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text?
The Nike football, which is my product, engaged with the audience by showing a sense of performance for the game. Both intense athletes and casual players are able to respect the ball. The design of the ball was captured with crazy filters and screen edits, and the cool music. If I wanted to distribute this as real media, I would go on social media and showcase the commercial all over different platforms. I would also make sure the main brand's website had it for sale, and so would major outlets like DICKS Sporting Goods. I could create different designs and meanings to encourage the fans with an emotional appeal. And overall, the product would strike not just an emotional but a physical meaning into the fans.
3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
My production skills helped me because I got to learn how to create a short film. And it affected me because it allowed me to analyze how cool filming really is, and that I could see myself maybe doing this in the future. I was able to experience directing my own scenes as well, which was really fun. I always thought of doing football or sports photography when I'm not busy playing myself. And now knowing how fun filming is, I am definitely more propelled to upstart such a business. I also enjoyed the way I was able to direct scenes and use my imagination. With the experience I got from directing, I would definitely consider becoming a director for film in the future!
4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware, and online – in this project?
In this project, I integrated a good amount of technology together. First of all, I used the normal camera app to film just like anyone else would. After that, I went to Soundcloud to find inspo for music. When I found the inspo, I downloaded it and pasted it into the video. With all of that, I decided to use CapCut so that I can add cool special effects. After CapCut was done, we had to import it, so I downloaded the video and posted it to YT. Once it was posted, I saved the new video with the new file and brought it into Blogger to submit my wonderful project!
